Transforming Our Community: Architectural Changes Ahead

In the Steeple Run Homeowners' Association, we believe that thoughtful architectural changes can significantly enhance our neighborhood's charm and functionality. With a focus on maintaining our community’s character while embracing modernization, plan ahead and consult ARTICLE SIX of the Covenants to ensure that exterior renovations align with community standards and benefit all residents.

This Architectural Approval  Request should be completed and approved by the full Board BEFORE permits are pulled and work commences.

Please allow enough time for our volunteers to review plans for compliance, suggest needed adjustments and
make a recommendation before the request goes to the full board for final
approval

Covenants & Bylaws: A Framework for Community Living

When you buy a home in Steeple Run Estates, you’re not just making a fantastic choice for your living space — you’re also becoming a valued member of our wonderful Steeple Run Homeowners' Association (SRHA).

Our Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&R) and Bylaws are here to help us all enjoy a lovely community life together. Think of them as the friendly guidelines that set the stage for our neighborhood. They outline the rules and responsibilities we share, all with the goal of keeping our property values strong, preserving the unique charm of Steeple Run, and protecting everyone’s rights. Plus, we want to make sure that harmony reigns in our beautiful community!

Interestingly, some homes have fences and dog runs that have been “grandfathered in” since the latest update to our Covenants, so if you see those features around, they’re part of our community’s unique history! We're excited to welcome you into this special place where neighbors become friends!

McHenry County Ordinances:
Outdoor Burning of Landscape Waste

Attention, residents of McHenry County! It is critical that you understand the laws regarding the burning of landscape waste in your yards. These regulations are vital to protecting our community from harmful smoke, ash, noxious fumes and the devastating risk of uncontrolled fires that can endanger property and lives!

There are strict rules governing open burning. You are only permitted to burn landscape waste on weekends during April, May, October, and November, from dawn to dusk. And listen closely - burning is only allowed when wind speeds are below 10 mph. An adult must monitor the fire at all times, with a water source or fire extinguisher on hand ready to act at a moment's notice. Keep that burn pile at least 100 feet from any home or garage and remember: only landscape waste can be incinerated—no garbage, litter, or manure is allowed!

There is a specific exception for recreational fires: they cannot exceed dimensions of 3' x 3' x 3', and importantly, they must not include grass, leaves, or shrubbery clippings.

Be warned—any officer from the McHenry County Health Dept., local law enforcement, or fire department has the authority to enforce these strict guidelines. Violating these provisions may result in significant fines. Act now, stay informed, and ensure you are compliant for the health and safety of our community!

McHenry County Animal Control Ordinances: DOGS

**ARTICLE XVII: ANIMAL CONTROL** **5.16.6** Every pet owner holds a vital responsibility; it is an unshakeable duty to promptly remove any feces left by your cats or dogs on our public pathways or private property not owned by you (unless you have the explicit permission of the property owner). This isn’t merely a suggestion; it’s fundamental to maintaining the cleanliness and health of our community. We must take pride in our environment and set an example for others. Remember, this rule does not apply to support dogs, who play a critical role in aiding those in need.

**5.17** Regarding barking dogs, it is absolutely essential that you, as a responsible dog parent, ensure that your beloved canine does not disrupt the peace.

Prevent your dog from barking, whining, or howling for more than 15 consecutive minutes or more than two hours intermittently. Furthermore, during the sacred hours of 10 pm - 6 am, your pet must be absolutely quiet. The sounds of your dog's serenading must not disturb the quietude of your neighbors.

We all appreciate a peaceful environment, so let's work together to ensure our neighborhood stays calm and cozy for everyone!  Thank you for being such responsible pet owners!
